Had zero issues with WP over the past 6 months until I tried to install 3.8. Would not automatically update. Plugin (Jetpack) would also not update. Tried disabling the other plug-in (Akismet), etc. No go. Finally updated manually.
Still could not update Jetpack, so deleted it. Cannot re-install new version. Install hangs with the message: "Downloading install package from https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/jetpack.2.7.zip…"
Any simple instructions on how to fix this. I am not a coder or expert, just trying to run one small blog. I liked the easy one-click update, but now does not work. Host is BlueHost, who recently updated to Php 5.4.
