I'm new. I've been using WP for 10 days and I'm still in the steep part of the learning curve. If you want to correct my terminology so I don't sound like a moron, please do!
I am having a problem that I can't figure out. I've searched, changed a bunch of settings, scrapped things, rebuilt them, etc..
When I assign a category to a post, then go to that category after posting to my blog, the category says "no posts yet!". It's showing up on the parent page, but not the category page, even though the post clearly shows a link for the category. I've been messing around with everything, but no luck. Why would a post not show up under the assigned category, and only on the parent?

What am I missing? Is it Viteeo? One thing I did notice was that even though I gave the categories a parent, if I clicked on "edit" and went to "edit category", the drop down for "parent" doesn't show the parent (News!). If I then click "update" without making any changes, it takes me back to the "categories" page, and when I look at the list of categories, "Old Catalogs and Ephemera" went from being nested under "News!" to not being nested. Is it something I did when adding too many plug-ins too soon? Is one plug-in interfering with something creating links? Is the site indexed wrong? Is it because I am using 3.8? Is it the NSA? Any ideas? I was up until 4:30 this morning. I get irrationally upset by little things like this. I'm sure some of you can relate.
BTW, I noticed the problem when I tried to set up a custom menu so I could have my own blog posts, RSS of new music releases in another category, and a couple others for arcane electronics stuff. I was able to create the custom menu following some advice here, but the content isn't showing up on their respective categories. The categories were nested correctly when I added them (under the parent), and I added the post to that category, but nothing.
