having a hard time deciding weather to give wordpress its own subdirectory such as
and have it re-route to just http://example.com, without the blog at the end.
I only wanted to do this because I was under the impression my site would be prone to attackers if I added my core wordpress files in the root. So, I created a subdirectory for it such /blog.
What I did was copied the index.php from the core and added that copy to the root and updated the '/wp-blog-header.php' ); line to '/blog/wp-blog-header.php' );
I thought I'd be happy, or so I thought. Everything's good and correct but it took me a while and in that while I read somewhere on someone's post (from the codex) that search engines don't like to have your site double listed.
My home and site url are both set to http://example.com/blog in the Site settings of my dashboard. Another weird thins is that it seems to be greyed out and I can't seem to change it!
I installed my wordpress installation with softaculous through my host and allowed for multisite from within my host for future endeavors but as mentioned I only have one site up.
So my question is do I have to sacrifice security for better search engine results? Or is there another way around this that I am not aware of?
I am using Wordpress 3.8 as I just installed it. I have no content yet as I am trying to get this right before I continue. I recently deleted everything in my root's (public-html) and started fresh and also deleted all my databases before the install.
I don't know if this is overkill with all the information that i am providing but this is all the information that I can think of that might be useful. I am new to this.
Any and all input would be VERY helpful. Thank you.
Also this might be useful as well:
Domain http://example.com
Path /blog/
Siteurl http://example.com/blog
Home http://example.com/blog
ALL GREYED OUT.
