acqua on "Malware in the database, what to do?"

Hi,
I have a malware/virus in my wp database so that when you visit an article a popup with unwanted advertising is displayed

My server told me we have to do a backup of the database, but since I don't know when I got the malware, it doesn't look like a good solution for me.

So the question is: is there a plugin or other way to perform a scan on the wp db to check for malware/virus?
