This has happened a few times already:
I used the plugin "Better WP Security" to change my username from 'admin' to something else. Once I do this, the 'admin' user is gone, and there is also no longer a user with id of '1'.
A number of days later, I try to log back in and my new username does not work. On the log in screen, when I input the wrong username and password, there also is no error message (the red box above the log in fields is there, but it is blank). When I try to recover my password, the recovery email indicates that my username is 'admin'. At this point, I have to reset my password and I can log in.
This has happened at least 4 times already in the past few weeks, and I don't know what is causing this. Is it something internal within my site or database that's causing this to happen, or am I being hacked?
I have restricted wp-admin access to only my own IP, hoping that would have helped, but it didn't. Does anyone have any idea what's going on?
