I'm the brand manager for a large online community and over the past year, we've been having a lot of difficulty with the technical aspects of our website, security issues, the site being "down," etc. — to make a long story short, our Web Developer isn't able to help us anymore, so we're exploring some other options.
At this point, we're doing a redesign as well, so it makes sense to us to simply strip the site and start from scratch. What I'm wondering is, will it work for me to export the posts from Wordpress (over 900) to an XML file, head over to the FTP and literally delete everything from our site, reinstall WP and our new theme, put in the design elements, and upload the XML file for the posts?
I've never done a project quite this big and I'm a little nervous that I'm going to lose our content? Suggestions?
